Gratitude

Gratitude has been such a powerful exercise for me. Every morning I get up and say "Thank you." Every morning, When my feet hit the floor,"Thank you." And then I start running through what I'm grateful for, as I'm brushing my teeth and doing the things I do in the morning. And I'm not just thinking about them and doing some route routine. I'm putting it out there and I'm feeling the feelings of gratitude.

I am back!

Today, I went to my company after finishing a year vacation. This morning was so cold that clouds of breath was collected in front of me when I walked to a subway station. As I expected, the subway was annoyingly crowded.

At last, I arrived at my office and I was the first person who came in. Actually, I intended it. When I saw my team collegue come to the office, I was happy. What's more, I could meet all the members of my company because today we had a opening ceremony for a year. I was lucky.

"Welcome",
"You are back",
"Did you have a good time?",
"How come did you go to America without noticing me?"
"Happy new year"

The ceremony ended and duty stated.
Even though I was ackward to learn my new position, I wasn't disappointed and afraid of doing my new work. I think I have become more relexable than before. It will be a good sign for my life. Long vacation made me peaceful. I hope this mind-state will be forever.

Recently

Recently, I have tried to be accustomed to Korean culture. I didn't know that what was Korean life styles before I had lived in different country for a time. I rediscovered Koreans' strenths and weaknesses.

Honestly, I have something to say about my experience, but I don't want to write it here. Now, I am little bit tired and disappointed because of my experience.

Gold Fish bread

Gold fish bread

Suddenly, I felt like going to shin-chon in Seoul. It was a few years ago that I went there. Shin-chon was still crowded with people and stores. Especially, street vendors which serve Korean winter foods caught my eyes. Actually, I wanted to eat Korean winter foods when I was in America. I was happy to find them, so I took pictures. My behavior might look like strange for sellers. That day, I ate 'Gold fish bread' and 'fish paste'. These foods are hot and sweet, so people can enjoy them in the cold winter.

December Snow

When I rember about all that time is one winter. The snow.
Even now, saying "snow," my lips move so that they kiss the air.
-Ann Beattie, Snow-

During my short story class, I read Ann Beattie’s novel, Snow. The snow in this novel symbolizes the memory of a lover. It seems that each culture has a romantic notion of snow. Of course, Korean culture has a romantic concept of snow, too.

The day before yesterday, the first snow of this year was falling down in Korea. The first snow has a special meaning for a Korean couple. They usually say each other, “Let’s meet when we have the first snow.” When the first snow is falling, you can see many Koreans calling to their boyfriend or girfriend. In this beautiful day when white snow covers the everything on the street, they have more romantic date than other days. White Snow has the magic to make couples more emotional. In the winter, Korean lovers dream of romance.
